CD ART DISPLAY (CAD) is offering a new feature to you.
in fact an opportunity to experience the next step in music listening (...and viewing) entertainment.

in other words: CAD is going FULLSCREEN now.

however, the download for this fullscreen skin submission here is for 1680x1050 screen resolutions only!!

here are the download links to the other available resolutions:
  • 1024 x 768 ---> link
  • 1280 x 800 ---> link
  • 1280 x 1024 --> link
  • 1440 x 900 ---> link
  • 1600 x 1200 --> link
  • 1920 x 1080 --> link
  • 1920 x 1200 --> link

also checkout the forum release topic for another more "blueish" package of ThaWall --> LINK

ThaWall-DLX is featuring some really amazing wallpaper designs by the following artists
(while all their permissions have been granted):

TIPS |
  • click the upper cover edge to toggle the panel and to gain full access on all skin functions
  • hitting the "ESC" key will exit the fullscreen mode and CAD will return to your last used "regular" skin

i hope you like it.
have fun!

ThaWall-DLX 1680x1050 by ~OtisBee Imagine your having a party and you want to offer something a little different for playing music. This skin does just that. The interface spans your entire screen with one of many cool wallpapers, displays the album cover and information of the song playing, as well as giving you the usual interface controls. Anyone can enjoy using this "jukebox" style skin. ( Featured by mrrste )

hey Otis! Any chance we could get the links for other resolutions updated? Or at least the 1080p version? I wouldn't be the only one who'd appreciate it! If you can't find the time, your excellent work is still appreciated!

Hey Otis!

On behalf of those of us who wanted the 1080 version, I thank you! :happybounce:

It might be from 2008 but excellent design work such as this has the advantage of being timeless. With that in mind I must say that I appreciate you still being appreciated.

Perfect, except it would be really awesome if the full screen skin had song names, album name etc. For now, it's just a big screen with the album cover on it.

thanks. :) ...have you tried clicking the upper area of the album cover, yet? that should trigger a panel that'd show you the mentioned infos. ;)

Thanks for your reply. I'm facing a problem here. How come on Cd Art Display 3.0, I'm unable to install any skins? I'm copy pasting the folder from the .rar into the skins folder, but it doesn't show up in the menu. :(

For the latest version of CAD do not put the skins in the installation directory. Install them in C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Roaming\CD Art Display\skins
There is a skin folder there and that is the only place they will work.

haha.. thanks my friend.

..and there's also an illustrated hint for the panel show/hide hotspot area in the preview image. :giggle:
perhaps i should have used some larger fonts on both the preview and the description text?!! :)

either way.. it's cool you figured it out all by yourself now, to enjoy the skin in full effect. :dance:

Lol, no, it's only my fault, I was too eager to test it that I skip reading description, only searching for my resolution (btw, I guess it was a lot of work to make it available for most resolutions) :D

So very great in use, nothing to add buddy ;)

little issue : the timer in down left side is not working for me (1200x800). I searched how to fix that, but without result. :no: Nevermind.

A sequel soon maybe?

oh yes, it has been a lot of work indeed.
so much so, that i don't think that i will create a sequel for this at any time soon.
but a followup version of ThaWall would likely include a complete revamp of the UI rather than just a new set of wallpaper backgrounds anyhow. basically that's because it's fairly easy to use just about any wallpaper in ThaWall, if it has the according right size and then renamed to background.jpg (or *.png) and then replaced with the original background. ;)

"..little issue : the timer in down left side is not working for me (1200x800). I searched how to fix that, but without result. :no: Nevermind.."

yeah, i had that issue myself a little while back. if my memory serves me right, then the issue occurs when ThaWall is first used with CAD3. for some strange reason CAD3 alters the "divider" settings for "textline 4", which have to be set to "0" (zero) like it's been when i created the skin in CAD2.

so, here's a screenshot of the SkinEditor: [link]
leave everything else untouched and just edit those "divider" settings so it reads "0".
save your changes and everything should be fine again. ;)

I really appreciate your works in this one, many resolutions, many wall, but for me music is much more than a cover and on this one, the cover is too important for a beautiful skin.
I notice we could have all info, but too conventionel for me ;)

well, usually this wouldn't be much of a problem, but right now i don't see me doing this at any time soon, because i simply don't have the time for it. now, i can say that i will probably have more time this coming summer, but then again i hate to make promises that i may forget about later and hence wouldn't be able to keep and i wouldn't want to disappoint you then.

i'll do my best to remember adding a 1366x768 version next summer tho. ;)

OtisBee Featured By Owner Apr 10, 2011  Hobbyist Interface Designer
well, then i'd recommend editing a larger version than the 1366x768 you're up to, because i suppose it's easier to reduce the width of some elements than it'd be to "stretch" them. ;)

Thanks. But ,you know what? I have tried the 1024 version and its intresting like it is . It leaves a porsion of desktop to quik acces to the outside of the skin

with a nice wallpaper in the back i can surely imagine this to be quite an interesting appearance indeed. :lol:
btw... there's a setting in CAD's options where you can manually move a fullscreen skin, so you'd be able to have it placed centered on your screen.
just in case you're interested. ;)

well, it surely helps if you know the software/app you create skins for.
..and since i have the great opportunity to have a very close insight on the CD Art Display development, it was possible for me to take use of all the supported features of this software with this skin. :lol:

either way... thanks so much for your very kind and great feedback and also for adding this skin to your favs.
i appreciate this a lot. especially if it's coming from a guy of your expertise and reputation. ;)

Děkuji, Tom! :thumbsup:

ThaWall was a bit of a pain for me at first, as everything was kinda in the wrong spot when I first checked it out. Not sure if it's my resolution or just something that always has to be done, but I spent quite a bit of time matching all the pieces of this skin to best match the preview image. Luckily CAD has the batch action function! Haven't quite gotten the %remaining% section to work properly yet (typically it just sits on a random number, usually 01 or 06.)

Despite all this (which I have accepted to be limitations of CAD more than anything else,) I have fallen in love with this skin, and am now constantly forced into the difficult decision of whether to utilize ThaWall or ThaSaver. Either way it looks great, so I suppose it's a win-win situation. Not only is this a gorgeous skin, but you even included a plethora of backgrounds to go with it. Amazing.

Thanks a lot for this one.

-PS: I recently joined the CAD forums, and I see you're a moderator there. Perhaps we'll meet there soon! :)

would you mind me asking what everything being "kinda in the wrong spot" actually means?
you have mentioned that your screen resolution might have something to do with it, so pardon my ignorance, but have you read my "Artist's Comments" and checked if there's a version for your special screen-res?
if so, and none of the provided versions fit, can you describe a bit "how" my skin looked like when you first applied it (or posting a screenshot maybe)?
you know, my skins a ready to be used and never there should be any modification required to do so. unless of course, you'd like to edit it to your liking. so, i'd really like to know what went wrong there.

as for the %remaining% time display, i can only guess that you're using the latest CAD3beta1212, right? if that's the case, you'd have to open the SkinEditor and in "Edit" mode check out the "devider" setting for textline4. make sure to apply a value of "0" there and everything should be fine again. i'll update ThaWall as soon as CAD3 final becomes available, but for now i keep the current setting for those still using CAD2.

well, thanks so much again for your detailed insight and feedback and if time permits i'm pretty sure that we'll meet at the cdartdisplay.com forum some day. :lol:

i've read your note, but will reply here. :giggle:
frankly i have no idea what went wrong there and i can assure you that it's not supposed to show up on your screen like it does.
my advice would be that you'd make this a regular forum post and have Carlos (the creator of CAD) look after this. if you can, you should add your OS and player to your infos, so he can better reproduce the issue. and maybe you should just post the same text like in that note you sent me, as i think that it describes the issue pretty well and it saves you from rewriting everything again. :D
please, post your issue even if you have already fixed the faulty settings in the skins in question and now think it isn't really worth mentioning. as i said: something's definitely wrong there and Carlos needs to know about it.
afterall i'm sure you'll get some help in no time and propbably there's a bugfixing beta build waiting for you just around the corner.
